Home Repair

Helping homeowners remain safely in their homes

Critical Home Repair

Island County Habitat works with income-qualified homeowners to complete critical repairs that will make their homes safer and healthier.

Repairs may include roof, electrical, plumbing, structural, heating, and upgrades designed to accommodate physical ability, like ramps and railings.

Home Preservation

It’s important that homeowners maintain the exterior condition of their homes to avoid larger problems down the road. Income-qualified homeowners can apply for repair/replacement of exterior components to maintain the soundness oftheir homes.

In many older homes, challenges arise around air quality and energy efficiency. Qualified homeowners may request assistance with replacing windows, installing weather-stripping, insulation and other components that improve the home’s ability to maintain good air quality and temperature control.

How it works

The application period for the Home Repair Program is currently closed. We will not be scheduling any more home repairs in 2020. You may still submit an intake form and we will contact you when we begin scheduling repairs.

Eligible homeowners recieve a 0% interest loan that is tailored to ensure affordability based on each homeowner’s circumstances.

To be eligible to participate in the Home Repair Program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Own and reside the Island County home needing repairs.
  • Total household income does not exceed 80% AMI.
  • Owner able to pass a background check.
  • Needed work qualifies for the program.
  • Manufactured homes must be on a permanent foundation.

To request repairs, please complete the Home Repair Request form. Once received, we will review your request and contact you with our determination and next steps.

If you are accepted into the program, you will enter into a Partnership Agreement with Habitat for Humanity of Island County with repayment terms based on the scope of work and your ability to pay.
